New York Post columnist reports (June 23) that health care is the "major vocal point" in negotiations between The Village Voice management and the editorial staff, who are members of the United Automobile Workers (we kid you not). Also: (1) Condé Nast Portfolio photo director is returning to Entertainment Weekly; (2) ex-New York Daily News "gangland" reporter Jerry Capeci now produces the paid site, ganglandnews.com; and (3) nervousness at Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. grows as the staff awaits the September 1 debut of ceo Alain Lemarchand. Predecessor Jack Kliger is designated to become HFM U.S. chairman.
