Daniel Ambrose has been providing media companies with strategic and tactical consulting services and training since leaving his post as Vice President and Publisher of Child magazine with the New York Times Company in 1994. As a print publisher, he understood the digital media opportunity that emerged in the mid 1990’s and became a sought after strategy and sales guru.
As a strategist, Ambrose helped write business plans for Beliefnet, recently acquired by News Corp., Mediabistro.com recently acquired by Jupiter, and iVillage acquired by NBC. Ambrose’s’ clients have included About.com, DRG Publishing, The Education Center, F+W Publications, Hachette, Hearst, International Thomson, Lebhar-Friedman, MGM Home Entertainment, New York Magazine, Parade, Pearson Education, Primedia Corp., and many others.
Ambrose currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Kaboose, Inc. an internet media company, and Guard Publishing, a newspaper company, and is an Advisory Board member at Pando.com a peer-to-peer Internet file distribution infrasturcture, and GoDengo, a regional and city-magazine publishing technology platform.
At the New York Times Company, Ambrose led Child to appear on Adweek’s “10 Hottest” list two years in a row, powered by the – first in the industry -- reader-customized editorial “Your Child Now” special sections that “grew up” with subscriber’s kids. His career in magazines included stints at Advertising Director at Ziff Davis; Director of Corporate Advertising at Hearst Magazines, and Advertising Sales Director at Cahners on the American Baby-Healthy Kids franchise. He founded Fathers magazine with Reed Phillips in 1987.
