Chopard Goes to the Dogs for Hearst

On Wednesday evening, June 25, we headed to the beautiful Chopard boutique on Madison Ave. in New York to celebrate the publication of the Hearst book Town & Country Dogs. A mix of handsome dog-and-owner portraits and pithy pooch-related quotes that would spruce up any canine lover’s coffee table, Town & Country Dogs compiles some of the best-looking dogs to grace Town & Country’s glossy pages over the years.

In the spirit of the event, all of the guests were invited to bring their dogs along, and dogs aplenty there were. Even if you successfully avoided bumping into the other guests, you could barely walk across the room without having to dodge a pooch or two as they munched on their gourmet doggie treats. Guests mingled with their proud fellow dog owners, and were even offered a free portrait taken with their dog framed in a custom Town & Country Dogs frame. Lest that seem a bit corny, be aware that none other than Bryant Gumbel—whose two adorable dogs are prominently featured on the book’s cover—happily took up the offer, so you know it was cool.

Overall, the party was brief but enjoyable, and you never had to walk far to grab some delicious hors d'oeuvres—mini-hamburgers, anyone?—or champagne from the minibar. Everyone walked home with a free copy of the book, the latest issue of Town & Country and, best of all, a tiny bag of doggie biscuits. While our dogs might not be as perfectly groomed as the ones on parade Wednesday evening, at least we know that, for as long as these biscuits last, they too are living the doggy high life.
