FROM THE FRONTLINES :: BUSINESS CASUAL
A Winning Moment for Every Girl Next Door at Hearst Tower Judging from last night’s winner—the “plus-sized,” girl-next-door Whitney Thomson—the days of voluptuous women role models like Marilyn Monroe and Rosalyn Russell may be gone, but they’re not forgotten. Kudos to Seventeen and America's Next Top Model for endorsing this beauty statement, but when Whitney made her entrance last night, we couldn’t help but wonder: Did she lose weight? With studies showing that girls as young as eight have eating disorders in America, the not-so-over-sized winner could have given pause to those in the audience who, upon seeing her in person, felt even more concerned about their size then they did when they arrived. But the gesture of finally giving the top nod to a plus-sized girl after 10 seasons was refreshing. ![]() That's Whitney, Fatima and Anya Ann Shoket, editor-in-chief of Seventeen in purple More Business Casual
