When it comes to food, Las Vegas is less "sinful" in 2008 than during its past "all you can eat" reputation, as such upscale hotels as Bellagio/Caesar's Palace/Wynn Las Vegas now employ top chefs. More than enough of an foodie "rat pack" for 25 chefs to populate the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, which is part of the promotion for Vegas Uncork'd: A Bon Appétit Epicurean Experience being held at several venues (including the above three) Thursday through Sunday (May 8-11). We are told that about 3,500 BA readers and fans will be in town, paying between $65 and $300 for 30 a la carte events. Plenty of dinners (one of which is hosted by The Sopranos' Lorraine Bracco), but the attendees will also get the opportunity to compete with the chefs in poker and blackjack. That's the part of the weekend that "stays in Vegas." Uncork'd hosts: BA editor-in-chief (since July 1999) Barbara Fairchild and Wolfgang Puck, who started it all when he brought Spago to town in 1992.

On April 28: BA's May Steak Frites cover recipe was a special lunch selection in the CN Building cafeteria. By 12:45 p.m., it had sold out.
